Born and raised in North Carolina, Bobby grew up in Mebane and completed his Bachelor’s in Mathematics Education at NC State University. Most of his summers during college years were spent as a camp counselor in Hendersonville, NC, leading youth through outdoor adventures, worship, and team building tasks. Another major highlight during those years was a semester abroad in Ghana, where immersed in a new culture, Bobby continued classes and enjoyed a different perspective on thinking, living, and learning. He has been in the public school teaching profession for 5 years, spending most of that time in Winston-Salem, NC at R.J. Reynolds High School.
Bobby actually discovered his interest in education as a young student himself. He has always enjoyed assisting others in tackling challenging tasks and developing higher thinking skills. Math always came easily to him, but he understands that does not apply to everybody. He likes to help students make the necessary connections to learn.
Bobby moved to Wilmington in 2017 when his wife took a position as an immigration attorney. He is now a part of the team at Laney High School. He and his wife bought a house this year downtown, and are happily settled in along with their dog Murray. In his free time, Bobby enjoys biking, reading, and spending time on the beach. He also focuses a lot of time on music, playing guitar and banjo, and writing music with local musicians.
